I have one but it's indoors. Maybe I should move it out. It's five years old. What do you think?

Alexandramou:

They are only grown outdoors here. There's literally millions of Bird-of-Paradise. Many medians are planted with miles of Bird-of-Paradise here in San Diego.

Well I started mine from seed then kind of forgot about it because it was left overwintering in my make believe greenhouse. It looks ready to go out now, thought it wasn't going to make it last winter.

Alexandramou:

Wow! Planted from seed...Bird-of-Paradise takes a long time to bloom from seed. I don't think anybody starts them from seed here. They are so cheap and commonly available for sale everywhere here.

I'm sure your plant will grow much faster in the ground. : > )

Deonix1, the seeds were a gift so ofcourse I had to plant them. I read that their roots like to be potbound so I'm thinking of placing it on my balcony. Then when the back garden is ready for planting might put it to ground. The plant is five to six years old now.
