Progress report...Jacarandas!!!

The little guys are looking very good. I'm so glad my huge Jacaranda tree has some babies in another country. lol! : > )

I'm praying I can keep them alive over the winter... with moving house it's going to be a challenge.

I wish you the best of luck! : > ) Jacaranda seedlings can be very tender. They remain mostly evergreen until mature enough to bloom.

That's good to know... so they won't drop their leaves in autumn? It's turned warm again here, after a short spell of very autumny weather. I'm trying to leave them out in the light and humidity for as long as possible before taking them indoors to dryness and low light for eight months.

They shouldn't drop their leaves for a couple of years, well, maybe just a few leaves only. : > )

It's a good idea to keep them out as long as possible...as they have a high light requirement. Jacaranda trees grow only in hot, full sun here.

We're finally receiving some very hot weather...now that summer is over...however, Autumn can be very, very hot here. Today was very hot and tomorrow is suppose to be close to 105F/ 41C. here.

Now the prospect of those temps ...after a hot (for us) summer makes me cringe. As in my climate zone all moderation comes with a peak and a trough! My poor little Jacs must be crippled with cold...oh dear. They'll have to come indoors and stand under the lights...I have numerous uv light bars...will have to find some gro-lites.

Those cold troughs/fronts can really change the weather very quickly! We have the same thing happen here...however, it's probably not as drastic as what happens in your climate. Hot temps this time of year is very common...actually, November, climatologically is the sunniest month of the year in San Diego. It can be very hot and dry.

I'm sure the Jacarandas will do well inside under the gro-lites.
