It's a protected Lily here. Don't know anything else about it.

It's not the lilies in the field that the bible refers to is it?

This flower is endangered because its natural habitat - sandy beaches - are beeing developed for tourism. It's actually doing really well on our beach. Will try to take a picture when we have our next still, windless day.

I'm glad that people treasure their habitats. Glad to hear that it's doing well on your beach Alexandra.

Nobody knew they were a protected speceis until a few years ago when the sign appeared on our beach. Still, most people don't know. The sign has disappeared...(again) But the lilies are fine.

Oh Alex, you have some spectacular plants and flowers there, lucky girl! Some beautiful shots too. I adore Bouganvilla, saw lots in Australia but must admit my abiding love was the Jacaranda tree..took some wonderful shots..must remember to post them some time.

Thanks Tetrach. Will be waiting to see your pictures of the Jacaranda tree. I was on google DIY last night,,,,,you guessed it. Looking at gravel paths. Starting mine next month.

Oh Im so glad..look forward to seeing pics. It was very easy, we arent experienced..just marked out a shape..placed a few slabs "to see", then walked the ground to compact it, laid the slabs and my OH just dug little trenches to set in the curly sides and back filled with soil. Must admit we have very clay soil so they stay in place quite happily, and if needs be, we can alter it if we want a change. Then we just filled in the gaps with gravel. Bingo!
