Thanks Yorkshire and Lindalooloo ... this is one rather large spider. It was almost 20 cms across ... but thankfully not dangerous.

This was had made its web out in the courtyard between two tall potted plants, Marguerite ... but before that we discovered it sitting on a web draped over one of hubbie's old motorbikes!
