Little friend

I found at least six ladybirds this afternoon - they're tucked away all round the garden! Where were they when I needed them....

and here

24 Sep, 2010

Do you think so?

24 Sep, 2010

Funny to hear you call them ladybirds...we call them ladybugs lol.

25 Sep, 2010

Do you also call Trousers, pants?
And if so, what do you call pants?
Also, do Canadians call Autumn, fall?
I love the differences in cultural customs. The English are normally the worst historically :)

Ah but - Fh, to us, 'bugs' are baddies, while a ladybird is a real goodie!

Hallo Jason - welcome to GOY. :-))

25 Sep, 2010

Jasonf....I've never heard anyone use the word trousers...usually pants, suit pants, chinos, dress pants, jeans, cargos, cords (corduroy)...all kinds of words to describe the type of 'pants' you're wearing I guess...if you see the advertisments in the newspapers & stores you'll see Ladies Pants, Mens Pants, Childrens Pants etc
Second question...lol...pants=underwear? I'm guessing that's what YOU mean by pants?
Third question...Yes we do...either one describes the season ....& I thought everyone did =0

Spritzhenry...that makes sense =)

25 Sep, 2010

oh crikey, I'm even more confused now FH, so pants = underwear = so what do you call them? Underwear? Do you never call a "bra" a bra? Or just underwear? Oh, what a strange subject to be confused about - hehe.

26 Sep, 2010

Thanks Spritz

26 Sep, 2010

Jasonf ..underwear is just that ...garments worn under your clothing, bra, slip, panties etc...
when you asked if we call trousers pants then you asked if so what did we call pants lol...I thought you meant underwear...yep, I am now in a total state of confusion!

26 Sep, 2010

FH - here's my pathetic attempt at avoiding confusion.
The English never use the word "fall" for Autumn. Only the word "Autumn" is used.
The English call their "trousers", trousers, and their "pants", pants.
If you call your trousers "pants", what on earth do you call "pants" (as in underwear worn by men)?

27 Sep, 2010

It sure does Homebird!
I guess it's also called fall as the leaves & the temperature fall? Really I don't know, just have heard it called both all my life! Have you ever heard of 'Indian Summer'? As kids we referred to the time after summer when we've had a bit of cold weather, then it will warm up again (this past week was actually a record breaker for heat here again).
The men refer to their trousers as pants...underwear underneath...there we go again, boxers, briefs, thongs, lingerie, bra etc... lol

28 Sep, 2010

We call that time an 'Indian Summer' too, Fh.

I hope your menfolk don't wear all that underwear - save some of it for the ladies, please! LOL.

Have your youthful men got the strange habit (fashion) of going around with their jeans hanging down around their hips, thus displaying their 'underwear' to everyone? It must be soooooo uncomfortable! I can't see that trend carrying on.

28 Sep, 2010

Spritz, please leave the "youthful" part out of your statement. I haven't been able to get my jeans past my belly for the last two decades, and spend most of every day pulling up my pants in the vain hope that my jeans will follow suit - hehe!!!

28 Sep, 2010

I bet you haven't seen these guys, from what you're saying, Jason! LOL.

P.S. Try a belt! ;

28 Sep, 2010

Oh Spritzhenry, my youngest son wears his like that! Then wants to know if I can fix the zipper, button at the top...forget it if you're going to wear them like that I tell him!
He's been wearing them like that since he was about 16 & is now 20 =P
I think Jasons trying to tell you he has been wearing his like that already lol!

29 Sep, 2010

Unbelievable! It just makes me fall about laughing. Everyone who passes them turns their head to stare, too! Why aren't they embarrassed? LOL.

I 'do' hope that Jason's face is bright red. ;-D

29 Sep, 2010

I don't know I guess they all want to look like the hip hop rap singers or something...when I was younger it was torn/patched up jeans...my mother was very embarrassed to say the least =O

29 Sep, 2010

We have a programme on TV - you've probably heard of it - 'the X Factor'. There was a contestant on it last week whose jeans were more rips and tatters than material! Why? Why? It just looks awful to me. If I'd been her mother, I'd have locked her in her bedroom until she changed, and then thrown those rags in the bin! (I bet they cost a fortune, too!)

30 Sep, 2010

Embarrassed Spritz? Not at all. My braces are about 30 years old, so they have lost a bit of their elastic strength, which means my jeans sit below my propunderance. My pants seem to do whatever they want, independantly of everything else, and I always have at least one sock around my ankle, but never two!!! To be honest, I think clothes are something that just lie on my body, rather than fit :)

30 Sep, 2010

Just as well GoY isn't on video, I reckon! LOL.

I think you should add 'new braces' to your Christmas list, Jason! ;-)

30 Sep, 2010

hahaha - yes, and some new socks, shirts, jumpers, scarves, gloves and wellies. Actually, after you wrote that, I had a good dig around upstairs and found a T-shirt that I still use, and I bought it 36 years ago!!!
In fact, the last shirt I bought was of the short sleeved variety, because I broke my arm and couldn't do up my tie, and I bought that in 1990!!!!!

Good for you - if the Royal Family can wear the same things for years, so can you! LOL.

1 Oct, 2010

o dear hear we go again lol another one of those funny blog ....comment wot ever lol haha ........................ pants pants pants that's outta breath lol

1 Oct, 2010

No comment, Cristina! ;-)

1 Oct, 2010

oh, I didn't know the Royal family wore clothes for years, well, apart from their period costumes. How come their clothes haven't got any holes in, like mine?

3 Oct, 2010

I've seen a photo of Prince Charles recently wearing his favourite (very elderly) coat, and Princess Anne is well known for keeping her clothes for years - but they have lackies at their command - have you? LOL.

3 Oct, 2010

Lackies? Oh, I'm afraid not. Just Derek's dog, ie. lickies - haha!

4 Oct, 2010

Awwww...how's Derek's dog doing? Will you please post a photo of him/her for us?

4 Oct, 2010

I would if I could, but Derek's brother dumped my camera in the stream when he fell in, but no fear, "Dog" is doing fine. I think he misses Derek, as I've caught him trundling off down the lane to "investigate", and then he comes back and lies on the back step with his chin in his paws, looking forlorn. He soon perks up though, when I chuck him a burger. Hehe, just like Derek!!!!!

4 Oct, 2010

I'm sure he misses Derek, as we all do. Burgers? Tsk tsk. Feed him properly please! What sort of dog is he? Description, please, Jason. Make/model/age/size/colouring/ number of legs - that would do for starters. LOL.

Drowned cameras are of no use - one for your Christmas list, along with the new braces, I think!

4 Oct, 2010

"Dog" is a welsh border collie - not sure about his age - Derek got him as a rescue dog as he had been maltreated by the owner. That was about 10 years ago I think. Burgers are ok - we make our own here from Aberdeen Angus cattle. Crikey, he even gets steak sometimes :)

4 Oct, 2010

Ah! 'Proper' burgers! Steak too? Wow - I'm sending Henry up for his dinner- he'd love that! :-)))

By the way, how do you catch the cattle? They won't stand still long enough for me to carve a piece off for Henry....LOL.

5 Oct, 2010

ah yes - it's all in the lap of the "gods" I'm afraid - put it this way, if one pricks his ears up, it's time to "bu**er off" as fast as possible, and no, that wasn't "burger off"!!!!! hehe

5 Oct, 2010

LOL.
