Terrific photo! That colour is very dramatic...I always ask this of rose growers..."is it scented?" They've been trying for a blue rose forever...have to admit they've found/created some really wonderful roses in the process...

It's also one of the reasons why I have the old roses... I have a very dangerous old French rose...it has thorns that have given me scars!! But in bloom it's beauty itself and the waft of its scent is heavenly.

I love the old French roses but you have to take all the problems that come with them as well.......

Guess I should be thankful, because RTB seems pretty healthy...

i only have a few roses tucked away here and there. not into spraying so there leaves usualy look horrid but they still produce lovely flowers. we have a tough old white one growing through a hedge which produces sooo many lovely flowers...

This season (for the first time in 8 years) the RTB had some problems with yellowing leaves. I've given it a hard pruning...but she's so dangerous to handle that I won't be taking her with me. I had heard so much about "New Dawn" from two friends here on goY, that I went looking for it... Was told how fast it grew and how prolific it was. Found one and paid a premium price...put it in the ground late in the season last year and it survived the strange winter (milder than some) and it grew very quickly this spring...but stopped in mid season. I have the materials to build it a trellis so when we get moved it will have something to climb on...then perhaps I'll get all the lovely blossoms that have been promised.

New Dawn is a beautiful rose, we have this one, it is very vigorous.
