Hywel _ It gets phostragen maybe a couple of times a year and sits in a north facing window!

Mine is in an east facing window. They don't like much direct sunlight I don't think.

I have one planted in the ground in the front yard...it gets attacked every winter by snails.

It's a little bit "over" in the flower department now, but when it was in full flow it was a sight to behold!

I've seen large plants with dozens of flowers in the ground here in some garden...they are so spectacular! I've posted some in the past on GoY. : > )

There used to be many large specimens in shaded areas of Balboa Park. For some reason they were all taken out several years ago. (possibly because of snail damage)

I don't think you would like to be in my climate the last 3 days...we're having an extreme heat wave. It's only 10 a.m. and it's 106 degrees/ 41 degrees C. here (some inland cities are hotter) ...it may get up possibly past 111 degrees F / 44 degrees C for many inland locations today. It's HORRIBLE!!!

Fine by me! I spent several months out in the far east, including the monsoon, and you adapt pretty quickly! Same thing during my year in Oz - spent a month in Coober Peedy earning a fortune (not) digging for opals.
It's the cold that I struggle with, especially as I get older and all the old broken bones start playing up!

My perfect temperatures are: hi 85F/ 29C and low 68F/20C. for the day, every day of the year. I don't ask for much. LOL!

Bah Humbug! give me a good old minus 20 C. anyday! URGH>>>>snivel, snivel. Our climate here goes from 40 to 40.... minus 40C is roughly 40 below F. and plus 40 degrees C is 105 deg. F..... In January and February..we may get the low 40..in July or August we may get the high 40. Lots of variety in our weather here in eastern Canada. OOps... almost forgot to say what I wanted to comment... Fantastic plant! What I like best about them is their scent... when I had my first Spath ..I kept having to dust the table they sat on...they sure put out a lot of pollen!

When I was in Uluru, I got up at 5 am so that I could go and see the sun rise over Ayers Rock - it was FROSTY! By the time that I'd walked/climbed to the top of "the rock", it was 38 deg c!
In Coober Peedy, they're "cave dwellers" - by living underground it keeps their homes at a consistent and comfortable temperature.

The cold plays too much havoc with my bones Lori. The pollen is a bit of a problem with those curtains, but the plant is so large now that we hardly ever draw them anyway!

LOL!!! It's actually still sweltering here at mid-night! Many of the highs in SoCal hit 114 degrees F/ 46 degrees C. today. That's dangerously hot...even downtown Los Angeles hit 113 degrees F/ 45 degrees C. Tomorrow brings more excitement in weather - with the monsoonal moisture flow returning. It's pretty unusual for the monsoonal flower to return this late in the year...however, it hasn't been a normal weather year. : >/
