This is a photo of one of my stick insects. It is a golden brown colour with blue/green legs. I have several different species.
This one, like most of the ones I keep, eat Pyracantha, of which I have an abundant supply. My tarantula dosen't eat these: they are my pets!

Stickies are great pets for children. The boring Indian ones are the starter stick insects but there are 1000's of species many of which are really colourful. I will post some more photos of stickies soon. The one in the photo comes from the Phillipines. I have a jet black one with little scarlet wings that feels just like velvet!

I looked after a neighbours stick insects once while they went on holiday. The little creatures didn't do a lot really, just hang around on the plants.

Oh Richard.....I didn't know you were into creepy crawlies. Not my favourite creatures I'm afraid.
Our kids had stick insects of the very boring kind when they were quite young and if I remember rightly we fed them hedge trimmings. Your photo shows a little colouring to add interest. It's fun to try and pick them out amongst the branches...they blend in so well.
