Hmmm...not sure minihoney, but it does look like a Fatsia japonica to me.

Thanks Karen - yes it does, but different? Maybe it's in the pruning? I will investigate further.....

I would say it has been really well pruned, but it might be something different altogether!

Yes it is a Fatsia Japonica which I have been shaping for the past 10 years. It is around 5 metres high and makes a beautiful canopy. I really love them particularly the Fatsia Aurea, they are very easy to grow and pretty hardy.

You've made a great job of the pruning Mossy. Tell me, as I have a small one in my shade garden....how tall did you let it grow before you started shaping it?

When I bought it about 11 years ago, it was around 60cms high and there were about 6 shoots at the bottom. I left 4 shoots proportionately spaced. Over the years I cut everything that was growing on the trunks until they reached the hight it now is. Now it is just the matter to remove the new shoots that are misplaced.
