Monstera friedrichsthalii - Swiss Cheese Plant (Monstera friedrichsthalii - Swiss Cheese Plant)

This Swiss Cheese plant was blooming profusely in the Botanical Building in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. Photo taken Sept. 29, 2010. For once the lighting was perfect in this large lath house. lol!

Mushybanna:

Are you sure it's not Monstera deliciosa - Split-leaf philodendron which is more commonly used as a house or office plant. Split-leaf philodendron produces a and incredible flower with delicious fruit which taste like pineapple.

Bernieh:

Thanks. Yes, it has a beautiful flower...but Monstera deliciosa has a more spectacular, showy flower. : > )

Palmate:

Monstera friedrichsthalii - Swiss Cheese Plant is grown as a house plant also...it's just not as forgiving of dry indoor air as Monstera deliciosa.

I'll have to post a pic of my Monstera deliciosa...it's been in the backyard against the fence - in the same place (and neglected) since the day I moved in almost 7 years ago. : > )

You're welcome! : > )

I have a small cutting-grown plant which a friend gave me last year. It's doing really well. However, the leaves are smaller than this one in the pic.

Rbtkew:

Yes, I love most plants in the Araceae family! We're so lucky we can grow many outside in our gardens here.
