Ficus elastica 'Decora' - Rubber Tree

This is the kind of damage this beautiful, majestic tree can do if planted too close to a house, driveway or fence. Like I said in the previous photo it was probably planted 50 or 60 years ago when it was a cute little tree. Photo taken Oct. 1, 2010 about a mile from my house in San Diego, CA.

This happens all the time here. Ficus species grow to be enormous trees...and then have to be cut down in many cases because of their gigantic root system. It's really sad! : > (

Ah ... great idea to show just how horrid these trees can be in suburban gardens. I see things like this so many times ... especially in the older suburban gardens when these trees were planted all over the place many, many years ago!

Yes, it will be very expensive. I'm sure this house has major problems with the water pipes also.

Wow that can do damage can't they I see what you mean this is a good example to the saying you ll never win nature.
