Ficus elastica 'Decora' - Rubber Tree

Ficus elastica 'Decora' - Rubber Tree (Ficus elastica 'Decora' - Rubber Tree)

This is the kind of damage this beautiful, majestic tree can do if planted too close to a house, driveway or fence. Like I said in the previous photo it was probably planted 50 or 60 years ago when it was a cute little tree. Photo taken Oct. 1, 2010 about a mile from my house in San Diego, CA.

Ouch!
Lack of foresight there then.

Meanie:

This happens all the time here. Ficus species grow to be enormous trees...and then have to be cut down in many cases because of their gigantic root system. It's really sad! : > (

Ah ... great idea to show just how horrid these trees can be in suburban gardens. I see things like this so many times ... especially in the older suburban gardens when these trees were planted all over the place many, many years ago!

Bernieh:

I thought it would a good idea to show what kind of damage this beautiful tree can do if not planted strategically on a very large property.

Rbtkew:

Yes, it will be very expensive. I'm sure this house has major problems with the water pipes also.
