Drat! Wish I had known. We went in July Cinders, had some Aussies over to stay and took them all over England.

The Chinese Garden is worth a visit. Just keep walking from the palladian bridge past the lovely trees and gentle borders and bear left!

I rather like the red bridge TT...it really stands out nicely against all the planting. We are so fortunate to have all these beautiful homes and gardens to visit. Now that winter is approaching is a good time for seed catalogues, research of all kinds and posting of blog photos to remind us of all the lovely colour of summer.
Nice set of photos you have posted TT...I bet your Australian visitors enjoyed it too. The climbing rose is spectacular against the wall :)

I know I should be planning next year Whistonlass, but I find it hard to let the summer go..we might yet get a "purple patch". I was ever the optimist. Give me til the end of October and I promise I will stop travelling! Well, maybe London or Oxford, but no lovely flowers to photograph. I might just pick up a paintbrush ..or would if I could paint like Bjs!

You're doing fine, TT.....you keep watching out for the 'purple patch'...optimism is a great way to look at life :)
I'm not much good at painting either....tried it but didn't take to it all that much.

Going back to the climbing rose Whistonlass, doesnt it just show how that lovely fuchsia pink goes against the grey. A tip to remember that!

You are right TT....the grey stone sets off the rose to perfection :) I've got grey concrete slab fencing but somehow I don't think it would quite have the same effect..hmmm

Ive got concrete slabs but painted them a very pale greyish green. Very pleased with it.

I'll take a look at your photos and see if your concrete slabs show up. I did think about painting them white but couldn't decide (a good portion of the concrete fencing was installed this summer and there's a further length of concrete fencing which has been in years).
I've chosen to have wooden panel fencing for the other side of the garden which is to be installed in the next couple of weeks.
