This Rubber tree trunk is next to the Balboa Theater in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. This pics show how large the trunks grow in time. Photo taken Sept. 29, 2010.

Thanks! I'd love to measure the circumference of this tree's trunk...I'm guessing it's probably 12 feet/ 4 meters or more.
Rubber trees are notorious for lifting the foundation of homes, sidewalks and getting into water pipes.

This tree has probably been here for 70 years or more. It's a historical park tree which would never be removed...however, I'm sure there's been some work done to this theater because of root damage.

I just have this vision of the actors having to step over the roots on stage while there performing :o))....LOL

It is quite possible...it does an extensive root system...flaring out several hundred yards/ meters. Luckily, most of the roots would be underground.
