An interesting one

I really love this one Hywel. The flowers are small, a bit smaller than F.David. It's one of the species fuchsias from New Zealand. There's a bit more info at the link below.

There are a few similar ones that have different growth habits on that link Michealla. This one came from Burncoose nurseries if you are interested.

Ooh Milky, you're getting the unusual bug!!

Great shot: like the toad lily, the dark backgorund really shows up the flower at its best. I shall be getting a couple of these for my garden. I have read that they are frost tender, however, if I can grow Pelargoniums and South African Geraniums outside with no trouble, then I am sure this will grow for me!
Burncoose Nursery, here I come!!

Thanks Geraniumdad!
Hardy down to minus 5 apparently, so it'll go in a coldframe for the winter!

Good drainage, plenty of mulch and planted at the back of the border it will grow just fine! I like to experiment with plants: I had a Bougainvillea growing outside last year until the harsh winter killed it off. £4.00 reduced from £25.00 at Homebase because someone had pruned it badly and it looked tatty! I shall be trying again in the spring, this time putting out the plant with the pelargoniums I have in large clay pots, around March. The potted pelargoniums live in the kiddies playhouse for winter: no windows on it, just fleece on the floor and kept on the dry side.

This is a scrambling plant which could be trained to go up. Around here though we do seem to be in something of a cold "pocket".
Until I got this virus I was in the process of making my coldframe - "double glazed" with horticultural perspex, base double skinned and filled with expanding foam and then the plants will sit on foil backed loft insulation.
