Mosaic Plant is being used as a ground cover in the Botanical Building (the big lath-house) in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. This plant can only be grown outside in ground in deep shade or it will burn to death here. Photo taken Sept. 29, 2010.

Your welcome! : )
Marvelous what you can grow outside there!

Tugbrethil:
Yes, it is pretty amazing. I grow my Agloanema chinenesis - Chinese Evergreen plants outside in the ground...they do very well in the shade.

I bet that's pretty! My Syngoniums and Pothos did well, but the Aglaonema and Peace Lily fizzled!

Tugbrethil:
I have planted Aglaonema in more sun and it also burned to a crisp. My Peace Lily is doing well in mostly shade.
I'm surprised Syngoniums and Pothos (Epipremnum aureum) grow well there. I would think the dry air could desiccate them quickly.

Nope! They apparently have just enough wax on the leaves. In fact, the pothos is moderately drought tolerant. Definitely can't take sun, though!

That's great info!
I've seen pothos grow in fairly dry condition here also. It amazes me...because in Hawai'i where I'm from...they always grow wild up in the mountains in the rain forest.

Shows how adaptable the plant is!

Tugbrethil:
I guess I'm not too surprised of their tolerance of low humidity...because pothos is widely used as a house or office plant.

wow- been years since I've seen or noticed Pilea for sale. They were a standard back in the 70's. And macrame hangers...

It's a beautiful plant. Not sure why it's not for sale anymore.
