crisp blue-green stems, curling leaves, tall, striking colour. only one or sometimes two blossoms per plant... seeds like dandelion with little para sails...

It looks a lot like Yellow Goatsbeard (Tragopogon dubius) which goes to seed by forming a 'puffball' like a dandelion. Do the flowers close up when it is not sunny? But Goatsbeard usually has grassy like leaves...

You hit the nail on the head, Grammazoo~ yes the leaves are grass like but they curl and twist... it's also known as Salsify. It has milky sap and it seeds like a dandelion... goatsbeard is also the common name for Aruncus doicus. will have to look closer at the online encyclopedia under Salsify, thanks again!

I have two plants of the Aruncus type & their leaves are both different from each other - one is similar to an astilbe leaf. I will have to post photos and see if anyone knows the type they are.

check out google... under goatsbeard. worked for me. I have wanted Aruncus doicus for some time now...love the lacy white foliage...I bought the Artemisia instead..I like it very much too.
