Amanita muscaria var. formosa Sorry folks...forgot about the toadstool vs. mushroom designation... this is a toad stool as it is dangerous... mushrooms are edible. Don't eat this one~!

had me thinking of little folk...lol... no I don't think it is a toadstool, Sanbaz. I hadn't had a chance to do some serious checking on it. it's a mushroom...and a dangerous one.

is that pine needle leaf litter on the ground Lori ? Great shot, something abit mystical to see fungus doing it's thing. The yellow is beautiful but probably not for the table !!!

Nature has her clues, aye Bizzyb? from snakes to mushrooms to who knows what ...if the colour is bright look out! yes the area where this is taken is on the cusp of the exposed granite of the Canadian Shield. The soil is thin and acid. and these were growing under a fir tree...but the whole lot (about two acres) had these growing in a diagonal line across the property. The mycelium must be huge.
