Lovely, if only they flowered for a bit longer.

Ive had two very good years out of five Vincent, and two where they were massacred by slugs eating thru flowering stems. However this year particularly the season lasted at least a month as they had branched and matured, so many went on and on...and I have a fair few that are remontant, so looking forward to seeing some later in the year from here on..
Also I fed them well last time..that may well be the secret..

I saw that a lot of the new American forms were remontant but have not seen them in action. That is great because the old ones (although beautiful) were fleeting.
I also saw a tip in an old edition of the RHS magazine to plant Tulips 10in. deep and plant Iris germanica types on top. They benefit each other and the tulips last for years and years?? Worth a try on a small scale?

Well it must work if RHS said so, but when I dig up irises to split, the roots are so tightly packed Im surprised to find a worm in them. I must say I have never had a weed or even achillea growing up in between and the achillea was right next to the iris. Still very much worth a try cos Im always destroying tulip bulbs by forgetting where they are and putting a spade thru them. This way I would always know where they are.
