They're rabbit proof and as hard as nails - a bit spready, but not too bad. I have some in pale sugar pink and brightest scarlet as well.

Hi Nannymargaret. I've just discovered that there are 2 plants called Kaffir Lily. This is Schizostylis coccinea. Some websites seem to think that they are hard to grow - not what I've found. I've never given them any protection in winter and the clumps thicken up nicely without any help.
They may well spread by seed, otherwise how would variations arise? but we pass them around between friends by splitting clumps which take very easily. They need dividing and putting back in their place every few years.
Just to show how adaptable they are, I've just found websites that say they need well drained soil and others that recommend planting by your pond!
