We used to gather these kind of fungi in the woods on Bowen Island (B.C.) and when we brought them home we would draw or write on them to preserve memories of the day.
We still have a couple...one from my childhood (I'm 62) and a couple from journeys back to Canada on holidays.
I've not heard of people writing/drawing on them here...I wonder do you do it?
You just have to be careful not to touch the underside where you will be printing or it discolours the fungi leaving your fingermarks!

Thats interesting Jacquie, I've never heard of this being done before by anyone. What condition are they in now? I would have thought they would have disintegrated by now. By the way Jacquie, you're only a youngster compared to me !!!!!! (lol)

Well they certainly look old....I'll see if I can find them in the house and take a photo, Lincs. I guess writing on the fungi is a North American thing?
