A few weeks ago I found a couple in the strawberry bed down on the allotment but as I haven't looked amongst the bindweed & other weeds that are smothering the plants I have no idea if we might have a few more.
Was this growing outside or in a greenhouse? Wherever it's growing you are very lucky to get fruit at this time of the year!
On the allotment field, two plots from ours there is a guy who has a whole bed of strawberry plants in flower! I passed by it this morning! They have no kind of protection whatsoever.

I see Lidl are selling Strawberry plants today, will it be safe to plant them out this time of the year Holly.

It's getting a bit late to plant them outside in the ground for this year. If you can, it would be better to keep them somewhere light but frostproof during the winter & then plant them outside in the late spring. They can take any amount of frost once they are established but in pots they are in danger of having their roots frozen which will probably kill the plants.
