I have seen a boat like this filled with soil and planted up in a small village on the east coast of scotland it looked really nice, but I would only do that if the boat was past its best. unfortunately I cant remember the name of the village

There are some pictures on GoY of boats filled with compost and planted up... and of old boats set into "seaside gardens"...

I might keep my eyes out for one to use as a planter, but it would need to be fibreglass as the wooden ones would rot too quickly

Good idea... they make a lovely feature in seaside style gardens with pebbles etc... If I come across any old boats in gardens on GoY, I'll come back here and put a ref. on for you ...

yes sixpence I have two boats. I put them on my two favourite fishing lochs throughout the trout season, but with the winters here I find it better to bring them home . at the lochs they would get swamped and possibly damaged during our worst gales. it also gioves me a chance to do any maintenance on them

Is your island being use for the salmon farming, as I watched a program and they are starting to vastly use the islands for salmon farming which a lot of locals object to.

there are a number of salmon farms here, some are experimenting with seatrout and one has been raising halibut

Will this effect you in any way.

no the fish farms are a fair distance from the seashore. they are basically cages made from nets.

Thats good then does nt interfere with your own fishing

no I go trout fishing in the lochs, a bit of shore fishing in the sdeas, and the sea angling club here has it's own boat so i do deep sea fishing with them.needless to say my dogs get a fair bit of fish in thier diet. of course they really enjoy it
