Bombax ellipticum - Shaving Brush Tree

Cuyamaca College Botanical Garden had several Shaving Brush trees. This tree doesn't bloom until late winter or early spring with bright shaving-brush like flowers. Photo taken Nov. 26, 2010.

Yes, this size is perfect for a small garden. I can't remember how many of these trees were around this building...I think at least ten, though.
I found the photo of the tall one in Moorten Botanical Garden in Palms Springs. It's the tallest one I've seen in California. I think the one at the Los Angeles Arboretum is a close second for height.

I like this size. Plus its got a nice windswept lean to it. Im not pruning mine for sure now.
