us and the neighbours spent the morning digging ourselves out down to the main road, hard work and we put salt and sand down, but we got the car out and went to Morrisons,

Well its ok where I am at the moment. A bit icy, we have had some snow today but it didnt stay around. However, I am a few miles from Swindon and it could be different there. Will listen to local forecast and let you know.

You did well and its nice when neighbours pull together and each other, Harry and one of our neighbours cleared our close yesterday but Im afraid its worse than ever now as it snowed all night and this morning too! no buses running to our little estate you have towalk to the main road which isnt far but very hilly, so Im staying put!!

I agree, its nice to see neighbours all pull together, we clear our pavement and next door and two across road as all 3 ladies getting on a bit, or poorly but then we got warned that if ice formed there we could get sued if someone slipped. What a farce! As if the courts didnt have enough to do!! Don't think its feasible anyway, so we keep doing it.
That was one good thing about open fires, we used to put down ashes. Trouble is the young ones around here dont seem to bother, and the old ones are getting tooo old. When I was a kid all the youngsters in the street were sent out with shovels and the adults scattered the ashes. I do envy you that community spirit Yorkshire.
