They are in two aquaria ... I need a large one for them as I've had trouble keeping the water from becoming ammoniated... awful stuff for the poor dears to live in...I didn't put the nymphaea in with them so the balance is off... After the move I'll find them a bigger aq..until I dig their new pond!

Will it be good to start again Lori? You can get your creative juices flowing during the winter months making plans for next year. Seasons greetings to you.

Hello Chris...Thank you! Hope you're having a wonderful Christmas and New Year season too... Yes we are both delighted with the new place and I can't wait to get out into the yard and start gardening! It's 15 kms. from the nearest small town. We move in three days!!!
27 Dec, 2010
Move is over and I have to wait til I get into Ottawa to use the internet because it's not available in our new place.
Thanks for all the good wishes....

Thanks Sandra...I have a large area for landscaping and garden...but an even larger area of forest. Will be arming myself with an all terrain vehicle, and hopefully a cultivator. There are plenty of rocks about as well for walkways and walls...I need a clone!

we have had a few cold but sunny days and its been nice to be outside to take up the chalenge again....hope you have been getting good weather too..
29 Jan, 2011
getting light snow...just a little everyday...but it's mounting up...I'd say we have about a foot of snow.
Long range forecast says Feb. will be snowy too! arghhh!
30 Jan, 2011
is that normal for your part of the world Lori? is still -4ish at night here but no snow....we dont get very much here...

You live on the coast, don't you, Sandra? We are inland from the Great Lakes, and at the highest elevation in the province. We have been locked in a strange weather pattern in eastern North America....Locally, we are getting small amounts of snow daily..We are almost in the clouds so we get precip almost everyday. When the sun shines it usually means an Arctic highpressure zone...and it gets seriously cold. Last night it was minus 30 degrees Celsius and the high today will be minus 17! That's a big BRRRRR.... in anyone's language! LOL.

yes we do live by the coast i can just about see the sea from my garden.......
thats sooo cold Lori.....but i hear your homes are much more insulated than ours.
my postman informed me it was -8 yesterday when he started and +8 this morning...by this afternoon it was t shirt weather...our weather is very odd.
how do you manage to cope with all that snow...we pathetic when we do get it...lol

white house is looking very nice.

Thank you Raj, How do you do? it's nice to meet you. We are getting lots of snow at the moment and the white house has all but disappeared in a drift ...thank goodness for central heating.

I don't think there's a place on this poor old globe that isn't getting strange weather, Sandra. Snow does take some getting used to...We have summer driving skills and winter driving skills...lol. Snow banks are growing tall as I type...we're having a huge storm at the moment. Most of the southern part of Ontario will be having a "snow day"...no school, working from home...lol. I shouldn't laugh about it ...it's a serious thing, our weather. Wouldn't mind one of your winters...maybe every other year. ; - )))
2 Feb, 2011
oh yes Lori...it would be awesome to swap winters for a year...or maybe just a month or two......years ago before i mooved here in the 70's there were 8 foot driftes of snow our village which is on a peninsula was cut off by road or three weeks...the lifeboats were used to bring in urgent supplies. our biggest weather challenge is the wind....as we are on the coast it hammers our place often. when we came to see this place the rain was comming down horizontaly..didnt stop us moving in though...
have you ever built an igloo from your snow...that would be brilliant...
4 Feb, 2011
I think you might want to reconsider that swapping winters idea, Sandra! Even for just a month...It sounds like your climate is warmer than this...and believe me, warm is good!
Horizontal rain! that presents it's own set of challenges!... Your homes must be watertight!
Usually, to build an igloo, you'd need some very dry, windpacked snow. We have too many trees. The wind doesn't get a chance to sweep with any force. The windchill factor does effect our comfort though...5 mph of wind and the percieved temp drops by 5 degrees! I think that's how it works...will have to confirm that.
