Hawaiian Snow Bush is a pretty commonly planted shrub in San Diego. It's only grown for the coloring in the leaves and is available in many varieties. Photo taken at Hotel Del Coronado on Christmas Day 2010.

I love Snow Bush, but it always turns green in the summer , here. I suspect that in Hawaii, it is more common at higher elevations.

No, it's more commonly grown in the lowlands in Hawai'i. It grows everywhere in Waikiki and around Honolulu.
