A member of the ornamental gingers. love full sun and in my garden grow to 1- 2 meters. multiply quickly.always seem to have flowers.

True they are the the dwarf of the gingers but mine grow taller than they should as I have red volcanic soil which they love.

Many areas of Hawai'i have the red volcanic soil. It's very true plants grow so well...and usually many times taller the average size. The only thing I don't like about the red soil is it stains everything. My dad would always complain about his red soil.

Its a buggar for staining .I used to curse it till I got lawn and gardens organised when we came here. still have to have a big clean up if handling the soil and clean the tools

Yes, it's can be a pain. My dad (in Hawaii) used to have shoes, clothes just for working in the yard.
