It is very peaceful and quiet. The border directly in front of the house is mixed with all sorts. It sort of hits it's best around July-semptember

I'd love interest all year round but I'm just not knowledgeable enough in knowing what to plant

Depends on what type of plants you would like for different season, eg winter, varigated shrubs always gives a lovely colour to a dull day or winter flowering clematis which you could trail through hedges or trees Freckles is always a reliable one.
