Many of these variegated Canna were blooming in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. I must get one...even though it's common. Photo taken Jan. 17, 2011.

Palmate:
The roots are pretty hardy on most Canna species/varieties.

We have to keep them indoors through winter here I lost one last year like this one with varigated leaves.

Sixpence:
Here Canna can become invasive, taking over huge areas. I have a large clump in the front yard which I cut back a couple months ago and dug out most of root. They're all growing back again (because of all the rain we've had this season).

Thank you Delonix for that I am so pleased I keep mine in a pot then if I decide to get another.

Sixpence:
It probably won't become invasive there....usually only in subtropical and tropical climates it tends to become very invasive.
