should i ever prune this..how?

Thank you simbad it's gorgeous when it's out. It's not a bad shape I've just looked this morning and perhaps after next flowering I will shape again. I have another one about 30 meters away which I'd five times bigger and never flowers but looks very healthy, I should shape that.
Next to this one is a pear tree that doesnt offer any decent fruit, would that be because of the soil/ground you think?

That is stunning and my favorite colour but I'm like Simbad with the wrong soil to grow them.

Not sure about your pear tree Skipscanda, bit of a flower person:-) do have an allotment but never grown pears, put a question on the ask a question section sure some clever person on here will know :-)

If you sprinkle phostrogen around the base and water in you can get little balls of this is what I do in spring you could also mulch too.

Wow beautiful rhododendron, something I can't grow in my garden, wrong soil :-(
The best time to prune rhododendron and azaleas in fact any spring flowering shrubs is straight after flowering,they flower on the previous seasons wood so if you prune winter you'll loose your flowers for the following season, rhododendrons only really need pruning to remove dead wood and to the size and shape you require so nothing too drastic, this ones a beauty lucky you.
