Some disrespectful person painted on the tree trunk.

That's what I thought. I'm sure there are thousands of other ways to express themselves.

Can't stand graffiti in any place - some idiots about - lovely big roots on this tree

Still an attractive trunk though...
We have a subway around here where the council have given the "kids" free reign. Only rule is nothing offensive. I try to use it once a week to check out the latest offerings. There is very little graffiti elsewhere now and a surprisingly good atmosphere down there in the evenings when they're all at "work".

What a stunning trunk, bet it must look wonderful when in flower, didn't realize these grew so large, must be a Corfu thing!

LOL... Lulu I think it's a Magnolia thing...
There is this other one that I must go see again, it's even bigger and the flowers are HUGE!!! I want one in my garden but it's way way to big.

Great photo, wonder how old that tree is,

I could fit one in this garden but I would be long gone by the time it grew to that size!!

Lulu, I can fit one of these in my garden as well but like you, I would be gone.

Are we nice enough people to plant one for the future!!! we could be scattered under it!!

I saw one on sale the other day for only 20euros....
I think we are nice enough to plant for the future!!!! Let's leave the scattering idea for now.......

Too bad it's going to rain this weekend. I was thinking about going to see the other huge Magnolia tree....

The other Magnolia is planted at The Achilleion Palace.
The stunning appearance of this stately palace takes the visitor back in history to when the palace was inhabited by two great figures from European history whose only common bond was their adoration for Corfu, Greece and its culture, Empress Elisabeth of Austria (known as 'Sissi') and Kaiser William II of Germany.
Empress Elisabeth built the palace to escape the tragedies of her life, and William II purchased it after her untimely death. William II, however, never had a chance to enjoy the palace’s beauty because of a war that broke out, from his own doing.
During the First and Second World War the palace was abandoned and inevitably pillaged by the enemy. After years of rebuilding and restoration, the palace was finally restored to its former beauty.

Alexandramou:
The roots are beautiful...but, like I said not in my yard though. lol!
My Southern Magnolia has tons of roots too (Thank God, not as many as this tree)...and it's virtually impossible to plant under a Magnolia grandiflora.

Sanbaz, I tried but I couldn't get my arms around it....lol

You are right Delonix, as much as I love this tree it grows to be huge....
I don't know if I can resist it if I see it in the garden center again....;o))))))

Alexandramou:
There's smaller varieties available now.
Magnolia grandiflora (Southern Magnolia) is native from Louisiana to Florida in the deep southern U.S. where they grow to 100ft/32m and with a very wide spread.
