The bees loved the herb flowers and the Canary Island palm trees gave my roses the shade they needed to survive the hot Johannesburg sun!

Looks wonderful. What is it like to garden in SA Sunrose? Do you have a lot of bugs, pests and snakes there? I think it must be great to grow palm trees and roses in the same space!

It was wonderful in SA as I could grow passionfruit and tropical plants, but you always need plenty of sunblock and don't normally garden around midday in Summer due to the heat! I actually had many large spiders, bats (they loved my giant Strelizias) and snakes around my garden. I had a Rinkhals (this is a type of black Cobra with a white ring around its neck) living in a corner of my garden. It is very poisonous, but usually the snakes are more afraid of us than we are of them. I also had Spotted Genets....they are shy animals but they love Papaya's! (We call Papaya's a "Pawpaw" and we call Passionfruit a "Granadilla" in South Africa.

Good grief, I'm so glad I don't live there now! Only kidding, the variety of plants that grow in SA is stunning and I'm sure we would ALL like a bit of your sunshine from over there!!
