Aleyna:

I think this is Alpinia zerumbet - Shell Ginger. It is widely grown here...just like Cardamon...however, the Cardamon flowers are not as large and showy.

Delonix,
The ginger flowers here are different, even the pinky ones. They look more like lillies.

Aleyna:

Alpinia zerumbet - Shell Ginger is very different from Hedychium species which are the commonly called gingers.
There's many types of gingers...which look very different form each other. The reason why they're all called gingers is because they're all in the ginger family: Zingerberaceae...which encompasses many genera, such as: Zinginber (edible ginger) Alpinia, Costus, Elettaria (Cardamon), Hedychium and Curcuma. These are only a few examples of the many genera.

Delonix,
As I've said several times I'm not the expertise :)
I checked your pics and it really seems the same plant, now... I have a question.

We use to dry these flowers in a shadow and fresh place, and use it to cook... as cardamon .... LOL!

Do you have a picture of a Cardamon, where I could find the differences???

Feelling like a fool cooking with ginger flowers thinking it is cardamon..... LOLOL :o)

Aleyna:

I have a photo of the Cardamon plant (Elettaria cardamomum), however, it's not blooming.

Delonix,

Gee... now I'm deeply confused...:o)
I'll take a picture of the Cardamom we use to add to food and tea...
Thanks for the informations :)

Aleyna:

Didn't mean to confuse you.

It's interesting that you are able to eat the fruit from the Shell Ginger...but many of the plants in the Zingiberaceae family are edible. :>)

Oh dear,
I'm easily confused... lol, no needs no one to get me confused :)

Aleyna:

Identifying plants is a very complex process and can be very confusing...there's just too many species and types of plants which look very similar. I've been studying plants and went to school for botany and horticulture...and still I get confused, too. :>)
