There is a Tremella mesenterica fungi..commonly called Witch's Butter that is similar but a bright yellow! This is growing on a dead hemlock trunk.

There are eastern and western Hemlock. If you are stuck in the bush and forgot your teabags you can make a very refreshing tea from the buds! lol...

Better yet, Karen...look up Susanna Moodie's "Roughing it in the Bush". Written by one of the first of the English gentry to come to Canada to live...in the 1830's. ( My ancestors didn't get here til the 1860's.) What a shock for her. It's hard enough with shopping centres and central heating!
