Our warm weather has gone now. We're expecting an extremely rare arctic front coming down from the Gulf of Alaska on Saturday. It may possibly bring snow down to sea level to the San Francisco Bay Area (which hasn't happened since 1976 -- when I lived there) and down to possible 1,500 ft/457m (which not sure when this has happened last) in our foothills here in San Diego County. It's going to be very chilly in San Diego (by our standards) for a couple of days.

Lets hope its not like we had Andy good luck I have lost a few plants this year.

Sorry to hear about the lost of your plants! :>(
I know there's been strange weather all around the world this last year.
It's going to be very brief...however, this type of cold weather this late in the season is very rare (actually, it's very rare for any time of year, here).

Thank you Andy, Let s just hope over there does nt lose any with the weather you have comming.

It's highly unlikely any plants here will be affect by the cold weather. However, I just heard on the t.v.news it may possibly affect some of the citrus and avocado crops in the northern parts of Ca. Luckily, it going to be a very short-lived cold spell (Sat. and Sun. only).

What a shame hope it does nt affect too many and goo its going to be short lived.

It now looks like it's not going to be as cool as they said. It figures...so many times the meteorologist are so incorrect here. Yesterday and today have been relatively warm. It also didn't snow in San Francisco...and surrounding areas. (I kept on telling everyone: I'll believe it, when I see it). It's such an extremely rare event for it to snow so close to the Pacific Ocean in northern California.

Sixpence:
Well, today it's cloudy, showery and cool. However, the sun and warmer weather will be back by Monday. :>)
It' suppose to warm up to 70ºF/21ºC by Wednesday...which is our normal high temp.

Thanks! Pritchardia species are very popular palms in CA. They grow moderately fast and some species stay at a manageable size (even though the fronds can be quite large).
