they are on the pond wall under the kitchen window. even at night they shine through due to the lights from the kitchen. A real cheerful pot full.

They really are a lovely showy plant, I've so enjoyed seeing them. I didn't find any at the GC, will have to buy bulbs for next year.

I dont know but they get the summer 'baking' they seem to like.

Like all Iris's, I must pot up my big ones, they are not doing so well in my borders...!

My bearded eones like being dry in summer too. Though the yellow flag live in the pond margins happily.

Don't bake your Iris Sibiricas Lulu, they like it damp!

Are those the bearded ones Tet?

No the bearded ones are similar to these above only a lot taller, about two and a half to three feet flower spikes. They have sword like leaves. They like being baked.
The Sibiricas have grassy type leaves, more graceful and form a clump and the flowers tend to be more delicate looking. They like moist soil, at the side of ponds, but will tolerate dryish soil and sun provided they were watered in well during the first year and are watered regularly during dry weather.
I have a lot of both and no pond! But I dont have the reticulata which bloom Feb/March.
Small bearded (dwarf) flower in April, Intermediate Bearded (about 24") flower late April/May, and Sibiricas and Tall Bearded late May to end of June depending on variety. Some Tall Bearded now repeat in Aug/Sept provided they are fed after flowering and get plenty of hot dry weather.
Mmmm, I do go on about irises... sorry about that Lou, here endeth the first lesson! Lol!
