Aleurites moluccana - Kukui Nut Tree, Candlenut Tree

Kukui Nut tree becomes a very large tree in the tropics. Here in San Diego it usually tops out at only about 50ft/16m tall. This tree is growing happily at San Diego Botanical Gardens. Photo taken March1, 2011. By the way this tree was loaded with thousands of nuts.

From what I've read, the nuts are edible...and used in Indonesian and Malaysian cuisine.

No, I'm afraid I haven't!! Lol. it was the thought of Indonesian & Malaysian food that prompted the mmmmmm. !!!
