This tree is pretty tropical and it's a sterile natural wild hybrid (supposedly all trees were grafted from a single tree discovered in western Hong Kong, China in 1880).
Bauhinia variegata would be a good choice...it's hardier and grows from seed and it looks very similar to Hong Kong Orchid tree.

Thanks Delonix, I had a look at "Bauhinia varegata" Very nice as well.
Glad you mentioned it....I could hear the wheels of my brain working on overdrive trying to figure out how to acquire one of these!!!

Here's some other popular Bauhinia species which are widely grown here: B. punctata (galpinii), B. variegata 'Candida', B. purpurea, B. forficata, B. acuminata, B. tomentosa, B. corymbosa, B. monandra...there's several more species, also.
