A secluded corner

A haven in the bottom corner. Rose Francois Juranville over the arbour, Paul's Scarlet on the trellis (not doing as well as I'd like), a pink poppy and nepeta etc.The trellis is placed so that it hides me from neighbouring flats when I want to sit in my arbour!

That's because of my crazy habit of buying plants I like on bargain counters etc without any thought as to where they could go. Therefore I end up wandering round looking for a space to plant it--result--a very haphazard garden! I have removed the rose on the trellis in this photo as it has never really thrived and I wasn't too keen on the red with the pink poppy. I haven't replaced it with anything yet. the rose on the left hand fence is Maigold and in front of that but out of sight is the poppy you like.

I'm sure you can Jane! I bought the little arbour at the garden centre at the end of the season. They sold it to me very cheaply because I pointed out that it had been in the display corner for at least 2 years! Then I put in the rose which covered it in 2 years and the rest of it is the result of my haphazard buying and planting and general disorganisation!

Go for it Jane! if you can't get an arbour you could achieve a good effect with some round wooden poles lashed together to support your rose. Then get some papaver poppies, nepeta, foxgloves, aquilegias etc and hey presto!
Of course, if you want something really neat and orderly, this isn't the way to do it!!
