Hydrangea macrophylla

Hydrangea macrophylla

Had one of these doing great in a container for about a year. When I brought it out of winter storage and watered it, the soil wouldn't drain and it died pretty quickly. I put it in a soil mix I have for outdoor plants that is very bad for plants indoors. Anyways, this is the same plant and it did very well for me before.

Yeah I'm a big fan of this one. Depending on what time of year it blooms, the flowers are different shades. In summer it will probably have a lot more purple around the edges that's pretty unique.

Yes quite a lot of Hydrageas change colour I have a white one which once the white has flowered it then starts to have a tinge of green to it.

It must be a 'Limelight' hydrangea, I've seen some Annabelle's that look a little greenish too. Have you ever seen a 'Preziosa' hydrangea (also known as 'Pink beauty')? I am amazed by the way that one changes through colors in a season. There's a lot of hype over all the new hydrangea varieties but 'Preziosa' is still one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

I ve just had a look its lovely and wonderful colours, the best one I ve ever seen was a mop head one pink and white like a raspberry ripple never ever seen it since, from a local green grousers, where I get a lot of my plants from, wish I had got one now. I have got a varigated lace cap hydragea thats a pretty one too.

I love the lacecaps but some of them are touchy where I live (along with a lot of the mopheads too). I wonder if the raspberry ripple one was 'Vanilla Strawberry' or there's another newer one called Edgy hearts. I've seen a couple with the pink-white effect but can't remember all the names. I think 'Pinky Winky' has pink and white blooms at the same time too but could be wrong.
I have a lacecap called 'Miyama-mae-murasaki' that has beautiful double purple florets but there are a lot of neat lacecap varieties. Do you have a picture of your variegated lacecap?

Thank you for your information on names I shall look them up in a bit to see if it is any of them. Yes I do have a picture of the varigated one will put it on for you now
