I tried this but bought it mail order in dormant season and it never grew. I think it was dead before I planted it. You never see them in gardens here though, I don't think they can take the strong winds...too brittle. It's a lovely tree.

Yes, it is! Never mind though, Scotland loves Rhododendrons and Meconopsis, and we have no lily beetles! It's not all bad!

This is very pretty Sheila, very different growth to mine, the the leaves look similar. Have you pruned it this way?

Thanks Janey. No, I haven't pruned it at all . . . it is the dwarf variety, only about 4' - 5', with curly branches and curly leaves! Have you got a photo of yours??
