I was calling this hawk a Red Hawk...when it's actual name is Red Tailed Hawk. A beautiful bird and part of a healthy stable population. This hawk is seen over most of North America and down into South America.

No this is the hunter, Sticki, not the hunted. I believe he/she is a Red Hawk...but will check my facts and edit the photo description.

Great pic of a wonderful bird of prey, Lori. Hope he/she caught some dinner! :-))

he might have been looking at the frogs in the pond just below the wire, David. but I was worried that he might be looking for Pheasant Under Glass! :-/ !

especially the grouse! Terry said I should name the grouse, but I am reluctant. Hawk was hunting again today; later in the afternoon. I notice all the little red squirrels get very quiet and/or disappear when he's soaring. hope he doesn't find my drumming grouse...day and night... whirrrrr...thump....thump.... thumppp....There is a grouse sanctuary about 18 kms from home, one of these days I'll have to go take a closer look.
