I think that it is a Clivia - I'll check this weekend.

This looks like Cantua buxifolia. It grows well outdoor in all of Coastal California. It's a very neat plant! There's many varieties available for sale here.

Delonix - you've got one wrong!!
Deffo not Cantua, the leaves in the shot are not of this plant. My thoughts were that it was a Clivia, 6d came up with C.caulescens.....
Ironic though - Cantua is on my list "to get" when we go down to Cornwall.

The flowers look so tiny for Clivia caulescens. Clivia caulescens is very widely grown here just like the Clivia miniata hybrids. I guess when C. caulescens is grown indoors it has smaller flowers?

30/40 mm. Would that be too small?

I think the flowers on C. caulescens here are twice that size. It could be because the plants are growing in the ground outside. Maybe? I'll have to look at my pics. I have some, somewhere. lol.

It's in the ground. It was rather hemmed in by other plants though and probably starved of light?

It doesn't need much light, however, it does needs bright indirect light.
