I finally went out and picked up all the bark that the blackbird had chucked on my gravel! It seems to have stopped now and gone back to worm hunting in the lawn!

Now I'm jealous:-), Acers are something that won't grow here to exposed and windy, just end up frazzled, just have to make do with my black elder instead.

Yes, Elder makes a good alternative, that's why I got my red berried one. I fancied something like an Acer but with a berry to add more interest. I wonder what my acer will be like after today, it's really gusty out there. Shame as it is warm and only the wind is spoiling it for us.

They say it drives primary school children mad too! They say that when it's windy the children behave quite frantically in the playground and they get a lot more trouble and accidents! Must be natural to be mad when it's windy Judy!

That is true, I worked for a retired headmaster who said the same...he used to dread those days.

yes the blackbirds nesting down my canopy have chucked moss of neighbours roof everywhere :D
