New kid on the block!

New kid on the block!

This little dove was sat staring at us this morning through the conservatory window, I can only think it was one of Lovey and Dovey's offspring, I went outside and it didnt move just sat watching me while I put out some nuts and seed which were demolished as soon as I went indoors. He/She had obviously been given directions where to come lol

Awe lovely photo its cute, yes they do tell one another Carole I know a lady in New Zealand who takes in the injured birds over there for like the rspb for New Zealand, and she bought one bird up then released it, it returned with its babies a few years on, then later another so yes they show or tell each other.

I've noticed that as well Carole it's almost as if the parents have trained them , I can just see them wagging their finger ( feather ) at their young ones saying " Now you must not leave this garden , you will always get fed here " :o))

Its shame you haven't seen any young Sandra but I think that once the young leave the nest they are left to fend for themselves, it would be interesting to see if there is any data which gives you what percentage survive to reach adulthood. Lovey and Dovey have been up to now very good parents bringing young along to feed with them, but this little one was ignored, but he did find himself food and water in the end, just been out to see if he is still there but no sign of him now.
