A row of bottlebrush in the Mission San Jose District of Fremont, CA. (San Francisco Bay Area). It's commonly planted in medians in the S.F. Bay Area. Photo taken May 15, 2011.

They can grow much taller. I think they're keeping these shrubs as a hedge.
I don't like the carpet of red! lol! My neighbor has a large tree bordering my yard...the stamens are all around my tent area where my shade plants are located. It drives me nuts!

It's commonly used throughout California as a hedge because it never needs to be watered.
