the conifers really make this space intimate & cool. Nice to sit & relax.

Just yesterday evening a tremendous gust of wind knocked over the biggest of my Golden Conifers! It's the one in the middle in the photo above. It's in a square tub which is fairly big & I'd put a 2lt bottle of water in it during the early afternoon.

The pots are so full of roots now that, other than small bulbs put in a few years ago for spring colour, nothing will grow in them any longer. I used to grow Busy Lizzies in them & other plants like Pansies but since last year I now grow them in 5" pots in saucers on top of the pots.

These Conifers now need watering daily during the warm weather. Each swallows up 2lt of water at a time! They now need to be moved from the balcony - but where to? I was thinking I could cut them back but it seems a shame! I hate having to throw plants away! The biggest is now nearly 6ft high! To think when I put the in they were only about a foot high!

Is there nowhere down on your alottment you could perhaphs plant them? it seems such a shame to throw them away, what about ebay Im sure someone out there would be so pleased to have such lovely conifers.

I'm not going to throw them away - no way would I do that!

Glad you like it. Camillia! In a few weeks time it will look a whole lot better! The Petunias & Busy Lizzies & Lobelias I planted a couple of weeks ago will all be flowering their heads off by then. I'll post another photo in July so you can see the difference.
