I think 'Paprika' would be a better name for it - gorgeous.
I can't quite believe I have only seen one lily beetle so far this year - I didn't know that vine weevils attacked lilies, another one to watch out for.

We had several lily beetle this year, a first for us, but the weevils are far worse, because you don't know you have them until it is too late.

Yes, it's a worry with heucheras and fuchsias particularly.

How do you know your Heuchera has weevils then, anybody?
4 Jun, 2011
Tet if the Heucheras are potted, it is easy to tell.... the plant looks sick, makes very little growth, and when it comes out of the pot the compost is full of grubs like maggots!! or the weevil itself (looks like a beetle) brown or black depending on the stage it has reached, after a while the whole plant dies, as in the case of our lilies, obviously in the ground it is harder to tell!! as it could be many factors, does this help?

possibly. I have one heuchera which has shrunk and now not making any growth..we moved it but I cant see any bugs underneath...

Well that is good, have you planted it deep enough, ours were all lifted after the winter cleaned off and then replanted, some took longer to recover though......have been very generous with the water too, just a thought!!

I like this one, Dd. I think you know that I lost about half my potted lilies with vine weevil this year. I'll have to buy new ones!

Me too, so stocking up again.........and will drench them this time.

I shall be looking out for this one to add to my collection.
REALLY NICE!

Thanks Geranium.....

Tetrarch - if you do find it's been 'weeviled' don't just ditch the plant. Clean it off and pot it up and it will probably regrow, they're tough plants.

Oh dear, and I thought they only attacked Heucheras and Fuchsias!
Still this is very unusual and I like it a lot. Not sure if I have room on my wish list let alone my garden!
