My front lawn today we have had no rain for 14 weeks. This day 1975 it snowed so much in the UK that cricket at Edgebaston was cancelled!

:((((( The East is suffering too..:((( Just heard on the local news that we should have rain from Sunday till Wednesday next week, Never known anything like this before, we are known for having the worse weather in the World, looks like all that is changing, don't know if it is good, if food and livestocks start to suffer though. :(((

We will have rain in some parts of the SE but not all so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Crops are really suffering now. 1976 was bone dry all summer and very hot.

Brill info DRC - looked in my weather book to read about it - remembering seeing it on tv about snow in June - funnily enough it is becoming rather cold next week for a while and it was a fairly chilly May this year too. Signs are good for rain next week :):):)

Oh dear your poor lawn, not good. Someone needs to do a rain dance?

Not for the SE Paul, it will only rain on Sunday night and thats only in parts so it may miss me.

My lawn looks like that too. We haven't had any real rain in about a month - we did have a brief thunderstorm 2 weeks ago but that was it. The difference here is that we are into summer weather and we've had 95 degree temps for the past 2 days and it is likely to stay in the 90s until September.

That looks terrible Denise. My youngest brother lives in London and he reckons their grass has been brown since April!

You should see a neighbours back garden lawn Sheila it is like thick green velvet, he has an automatic sprinkler system that comes on every night. He still mows every weekend - mine has stopped growing so I carnt. As you say S it does look awful but I think it is wrong to water my lawns as they do recover no matter what but that's not cheering though.

Oh Drc, that looks soooo sad. We had a heatwave yesterday. Temp got to about 26/27 out my back garden. Today started off a scorcher, but this afternoon, became very overcast, with a few light raindrops. Now tonight, it's still very cloudy, but the weathermen reckoned we would have sunshine into Monday, so they got that wrong again.

We're all in the same boat Drc, but we did get rain a little yesterday, and all last night...We have started watering our lawns...and our Farmers are having to feed Hay now to the animals, as the grass is so sparse...:o( times they are a changing...

Our farmers are worried about feeding their animals here too Crissue and the winter feed is not growing either. Its being raining since last night here but its very localised.

Seems like global climate change has struck again. Your poor lawn, I hope it gets better soon! If you don't get any more rain, is there some way you could harvest bath water for it?

I always find grass recovers when it rains Jennyfer but hey ho its rained heavily last night and this morning.

Must be all the talk of Rain, we've had rain all night, here and most of the morning..grass is till a dirty looking colour, but we are using bath water, and save any spare water from rinsing dishes etc. every little helps...
